Tutor Training Workshops

Any literate adult with time and concern for others may become a tutor. Previous teaching experience is not necessary, and knowledge of a foreign language is not required to teach English as a second language. Tutors are trained in the Laubach method by certified instructors in six-hour workshops. Tutors commit 2 hours per week plus any preparation and travel time. Training materials, used in teaching, cost $45. Scholarships are available.

Volunteers can change lives by sharing the gift of English to our students.

The students you will have are any adult 18 years or older. When possible, the student pays for his/her own study materials. There is no charge for the services of the tutor.

Students attend tutoring sessions twice each week on a regular basis until the students’ goals are met.
